We all want to be accepted, it is at the core of our human existence. Yet in order to fulfill some illogical need of ours we reject others to make ourselves feel better.
We can't just let others be themselves; with some twisted reasoning we have to insist that others be like us, so that they can be accepted by us. It's ironic in a sense.
We experience sorrow when we are rejected, yet we go back and do the same to someone else. It is like a thorn in the side of humanity. One that unfortunately is difficult for many of us to escape...
Like the human version of quicksand our efforts to escape it end up seeming like futility. Some are so deep in the quicksand that their eyes are covered and they cannot see anything.
It's a pity when one is in such a state. Woe to those who cannot escape. They will go through life being miserable, because the more you are accepting of others, the more you receive acceptance yourself.
Everybody loves a happy and secure person. They are like pearls, their beauty shines all throughout. I myself want to be more like that pearl, especially after going the recent pain of rejection...
Memories, how they fade quickly, too quick indeed. Is this really what keeps us in the quicksand? We become ignorant of others pain, since we forget what it feels like ourselves?
Or maybe it's just plain human imperfection? Who knows? One thing is clear is that we could all stand to put more effort into freeing ourselves from the quicksand that is keeping us from true happiness...
Happy are they who are secure in themselves, for they bring up the spirits of those around them. It is like a winding ball of twine, the good feelings never stop. They give and get back. Ironic isn't it?
Those who demand less and give more, get more in return. Oh that we could be that way all the time, instead of being eclipsed by our own selfishness...
